今晚剛買了 DVD 錄影機，是 ACL 的 ACL-RW+8。它只支援 DVD+R 或 DVD+RW 格式。回到家裏，只用了 3 分鐘就接駁好，再用 5 分鐘調教好頻道，立即放了空白的 DVD+R 進去，錄影《棟篤神探》的第一集。
操作介面很簡易，由於是廉價的型號，沒有複雜的功能 ( 連錄影麗音的第二聲道也不可以，不過倒可用 firewire 連接 DV ) 。我選擇了延長模式 ( 即一隻 4.7GB 的 DVD 可錄製 4 小時的節目 ) 來錄影，畫面的質素不太好，就像用傳統錄影帶那般，可是錄製電視劇，這個模式也勉強可以接受。
其實買 DVD 錄影機的主要原因，是我爸四處去旅行拍下不少 DV 不知怎樣處理，等我替他轉錄去 DVD。用 DVD 錄影機，應該比用電腦 DVD 燒錄器方便吧。

The quality depends on the recording mode, for standard mode (i.e. 2 hours for 1 DVD), the quality is good. 4-hour “LP mode” is acceptable. Remember, when we say 2 hours, it usually require you to leave some space at the end to “close” the disc, so the actual recording length is about 1 hour 40 minutes.
The transition from DV to DVD is real-time, so the length of your DV tape = the length of time required for transition.
I have a bitter experience with MAG DVD recorder. The Vision technology has been good enough to replace the machine for me and the 4th machine has broken down again, all within a space of 9 months. The firmware is unstable and the lastest machine has both firmware and hardware problems. Most of the time the machine will not dub from the hard disc. You cannot cut out adverts also.
Please steer clear of MAG and I have bought ACL which does all the things I want.

I totally agree with samuel, MAG DVD recorder is really poor quality, mine break down in 1 month, cannot record sounds, and the vision technology company is also poor.. need to wait for 1 month to repair the machine, so it is equal to buying a recorder which cannot be used…
so REMEMBER NEVER BUY MAG DVD RECORDER AND NEVER BUY PRODUCT DISTRIBUTED BY VISION TECHNOLOGY … or you will suffer yourself…
i bought mine last dec. it was doing fine except 1:the clock runs 5-8 minutes fast every month, so i need to adjust it every month, 2:for US tv series dvds, NO SOUNDS even if i tried changing to different codes, 3:Vision is unable to help or explain what’s wrong. I can bear with these actually, but the recent problem is frustrating, i set recorder say at 9pm and the length for 2 hours, sometimes it records 1hr 23mins and stopped, sometimes 4 mins, sometimes 36 minutes. BUT i wanted to record 2 hours! the first time it happeds i thought it was because of the thunder and electricity problem that resulted from it, but no, it happened again and again, and what is a recorder when it cannot record?????
